WASHINGTON (Thomson Financial) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and other federal regulators today sought to boost the supply of US mortgage credit by issuing a list of best practices for banks that wish to issue “covered bonds,” which Paulson said have the potential to serve as a new source of mortgage financing aside from securitized mortgages.
